The Northern German Broadcasting Station was interested in Prof. Ulrich Hoinkes’ opinion on the Corona crisis. Even before we all became aware of the seriousness of the situation in Germany as well, the first hamster purchases were already being made in the shops. In a television interview on March 2nd, the NDR wanted to know whether fear was turning into unfounded panic in some people and whether the voices of reason were being heard too little in our society.

Nine days later, on March 11th, 2020, the regional radio station NDR 1 Welle Nord called Dr. Hoinkes for another short interview in the morning. Up to this day the anxieties about Corona were still very unevenly distributed in Germany. On the basis of rather reassuring news from the Robert Koch Institute about the danger of the virus, Hoinkes began here with the quote “The situation is hopeless, but not serious”. In the meantime we know that it is also serious. But unfortunately the German public was only informed about it very late in the following days…
